ALOHAS FOOTWEAR DESIGN CONTEST

ALOHAS is inviting fashion design students from all over the world to participate in our first-ever Footwear Concept Stage Design Contest. It’s a design competition that is built around sustainability and innovation. It was created to empower and assists students to continue embracing their unique skills through their creativity in design and fashion, as well as encourage them to pursue a career in the fashion industry. We created this contest with young creatives in mind, offering them the financial support and exposure they need for their further academic development. We commit bringing to life and producing the top winner’s footwear design and include it in our rich portfolio on our website. At the same time, we will reward the top winner with an 8000$ grant support for a course or a tuition fee, to further encourage their professional development!

What you need to know



1/ The winner will receive up to 8000$ grant for a course/tuition fee of your choice. Your design will become a reality – ALOHAS will create and produce the actual final design which will be available for pre-ordering on our website.

2/ Entries need to be submitted by 11:59 pm Central European Time on May 12, 2023

3/ Submissions are welcome from all graduates from a foundation, undergraduate, and postgraduate course, or any designer willing to participate

4/ We don’t want to limit your creativity, but we are looking for ALOHAS inspired designs.

5/ Each applicant can submit only ONE DESIGN IDEA, and in up to 5 different color ways.

6/ All entries should be a faithful representation of original work and ideas.

7/ Work cannot currently be for sale elsewhere and, once submitted, cannot be used anywhere else for 360 days after the submission deadline.

8/ ALOHAS will not accept repurposed submissions to other contests.

9/ Candidates must fill out the application form on the website.

10/ Candidates are encouraged to follow the ALOHAS spirit, defined by an elegant, minimal, clean, classy, and sustainable

GIOVANNA THEREZA
Giovanna Marçallo Thereza is a Digital Fashion Designer, specialist in Marketing and Communication and Master in Management of the Fashion Industry and Design by ESDI Barcelona. She has more than 7 years experience in the Brazilian retail market working as Product Manager and Fashion Designer. She has been active in the Digital Fashion Market for the last 3 years, working on projects for brands, joining Fashion Weeks, developing NFTs and Digital Collections. Giovanna believes in technology connected to fashion and sustainability and is passionate about innovations and market trends! Her message: "Let's build the future of FASHION together by collaborating with the DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT of the industry!"

ROSARIO TRUCCO
Rosario is the Leather Goods Lead Designer at ALOHAS and comes from sunny Barcelona. She has been with ALOHAS for over three and a half years, and if you will ever meet Rosario - you'll notice how much she loves and enjoys her work and is passionate about the industry. She likes to point out that she is actually one of the veterans in the company! What Rosario enjoys the most about her work is the process of bringing new and unique ideas to life. After countless design ideas, Rosario is hooked on this feeling of how something that starts only with a simple sketch can eventually become an actual product. For all of those of us working with Rosario, we truly appreciate her talent and devotion, and her enthusiasm is definitely infecting the whole team!
María L. Calvo
María L. Calvo
María is a Pattern Cutter/ Garment Technologist / Fashion Designer with a background as a telecommunication engineer, haute-couture dressmaking studies and an MA in 'Pattern and Garment Technology: Creative Pattern Cutting' at University of the Arts London. From her experience in high-end RTW, made-to-measure and bridal (as a studio manager, designer or creative pattern cutter for independent brands) she gained a strong knowledge of garment construction and the whole development and sampling process. María has special interest in how digital technologies can be applied in pattern cutting and 3D sampling. She developed some software for automatic pattern generation and she is undertaking some projects that involve coding, 3D printing and fabric manipulation.
